Play therapy is a specialized therapeutic approach designed to help children and adolescents express their emotions, thoughts, and experiences through play. Recognizing that play is the natural language of childhood, this form of therapy provides a safe and supportive environment where young clients can explore their feelings and develop coping skills without the pressure of traditional verbal communication.
The process typically begins with an initial assessment conducted by a trained therapist, who collaborates with the child and their parents to understand the child’s history, concerns, and goals for therapy. Following this assessment, a tailored treatment plan is developed to meet the unique needs of the child. During individual play therapy sessions, children engage in various forms of play—such as imaginative play, creative arts, and storytelling—guided by the therapist. This structured yet flexible approach allows children to communicate their inner world through actions rather than words.
Play therapy offers numerous benefits for children and adolescents, including:
Emotional Regulation Skills: Children learn to identify and manage their emotions effectively.
Improved Social Skills: Through interactive play, clients enhance their ability to relate to others.
Increased Self-Esteem: Engaging in creative expression fosters confidence and self-worth.
Trauma Processing: Children can work through traumatic experiences in a safe space.
Coping Strategies: Clients develop tools for managing stress and anxiety.
Creativity Enhancement: The therapeutic use of play encourages imagination and innovation.

Sometimes therapy is not the answer, but you need the knowledge of a therapist to help connect you with resources, or hear your concerns. Childhood Assessments offer comprehensive review of your child, services currently in place, what services may be helpful and referrals. These are typically completed in 2-4 90 minute sessions but may vary based on complexity. This service is covered by many major insurances.

Personalized Mental Health Treatment
Many times effective mental health treatment includes proper medication to treat conditions alongside therapy. We offer medication management for mental health conditions with an experienced Nurse Practitioner, who is certified to treat individuals through the life span. Our clinic uses GeneSight, a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes how your genes may affect your response to certain medications commonly prescribed for depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions. This simple, non-invasive cheek swab test provides valuable, personalized information to help your healthcare provider make more informed treatment decisions.
How It Works
Your DNA holds clues about how quickly you process—or metabolize—certain medications, and whether you might be more likely to experience side effects. The GeneSight test reviews genes related to the effectiveness and side effects of over 60 medications, categorizing them into three clear color-coded groups:
Green (Use as Directed): Medications that may be a good match for you based on your genetic results.
Yellow (Moderate Gene-Drug Interaction): Medications that may require dosage adjustments or careful monitoring.
Red (Significant Gene-Drug Interaction): Medications that may be less effective or cause more side effects based on your genetic results.
The Benefits of GeneSight
Personalized Treatment: Moves beyond trial-and-error to help guide your provider in selecting a medication more likely to work for you.
Faster Relief: Studies show that patients whose treatment was guided by GeneSight were more likely to respond to medication and see symptom improvement.
Simple and Convenient: The test involves a quick cheek swab that can be done in your provider's office or at home.
Covered by Insurance: GeneSight is often covered by insurance and financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
Take the Next Step
Contact Tracey (our in-house expert) or your therapist about incorporating the GeneSight test into your mental health treatment plan. Knowledge is power—get the genetic information you need for a more personalized path to wellness.

Recovery coaching offers practical, compassionate support for individuals seeking freedom from substance use and addictive behaviors—whether you are just beginning to consider change or are actively maintaining recovery. Recovery coaching is a collaborative, strengths-based service that focuses on helping you build a meaningful, sustainable life beyond addiction.
Unlike therapy, recovery coaching is action-oriented and present-focused. Coaches have their own personal history with addiction and can be an invaluable tool to recovery. Coaches work alongside you to clarify goals, strengthen motivation, develop coping strategies, and navigate real-world challenges such as relationships, work, stress, and daily routines. Coaching supports recovery across many pathways, including abstinence-based, harm-reduction, and medication-assisted approaches.
Recovery coaches bring a trauma-informed, non-judgmental perspective to this work. We recognize that addiction is often connected to lived experiences of stress, loss, and adversity, and we meet you with respect, curiosity, and hope. Sessions are individualized and may include accountability support, relapse prevention planning, connection to community resources, and coordination with therapists, medical providers, or treatment programs when appropriate.
Recovery coaching can be a powerful complement to therapy, intensive treatment, or self-directed recovery. Whether you are transitioning out of a higher level of care, seeking additional support between therapy sessions, or looking for structured guidance without entering therapy, recovery coaching offers flexible, supportive care tailored to your needs.
You do not have to navigate recovery alone.
It is important to check your insurance for coverage to this specific service to avoid unexpected costs.
